An Ideologue's Idea Log: Entry #9

(Note: I just realized I've been spelling "ideologue" wrong this whole time... *facepalm*)

This is kinda different, because in addition to ideas of my own, I'm going to ask you for some ideas, too. The question is, how do I get more people to view/bid on the auctions I have up for the photo books I'm selling?

Here are some additional ideas I've come up with:

  • Post the links to photography communities on FB.
  • Ask for help.

So . . . do any of you have any ideas?

Are you using EBay for the auction? Have you put something in Craigslist or local papers? Just a thought.

Re: Possibilities?
eBay. And I think Craigslist frowns upon posts that link to eBay auctions. Ads in local papers cost money. :/

Re: Possibilities?
I was actually thinking more of the weekly-style "freebie" newspapers. Many of them, in my experience, allow short ads for free (the big quarter pager ads & up cost, but little 2-3 liner ads don't).

Don't know if STAR SAN DIEGO still exits, or what fan organizations there are down in your neck of the woods, but if there are any fanish weekly newsletter/apas in your neck of the woods, you might try that avenue.

Just spitting out random ideas here...

Re: Possibilities?
STAR does exist, but I'm not sure if advertising there would be appropriate. The weeklies also still exist, but the Reader comes out today, and the auction ends Sunday, so putting in an ad next week would be futile.

Thanks for the suggestions, though.

I can drop a message in my twitter, if you like.

Just let me know which links you would like me to put up :)

That would be great, actually. And I have some photographer friends who might be willing to tweet it for me, too. Thanks.

I was going to suggest twitter as well.

I was going to suggest checking out a used book store. But I think you want more than they can give you.

Another thought is putting up an ad in the art department of local colleges.

An ad at the art department of colleges is an interesting idea. I may pursue it for future auctions, but these end on Sunday, and I don't have time tomorrow to go to the campuses. Thanks for the suggestion, though.
