I'm unemployed.

Yes, I officially lost my job as of the 31st of December. I was informed of this just before Thanksgiving. It was . . . difficult, which is why I didn't write about it at the time. Apparently, I never got around to writing about it later, either. So, yeah, I've been unemployed for seven or so weeks, and looking for work for about three months.

So far no luck, but this past week has shown a great deal of promise. I've had three phone screens and two in-person interviews, plus feedback on one of the in-person interviews that they consider me a strong candidate. So I'm actually pretty happy about my prospects at this point.

I'm also completely wrung out. I haven't had this busy an interview schedule, like, ever! It's a good thing, but it's also very stressful and mentally taxing. So I'm going to be taking the weekend to decompress and maybe catch up on sleep. :)

That's rough. I hope you're getting unemployment, because it's pretty generous in California. I lost my job at the end of September and have been crawling by with temp jobs.

Oh, I am. It's okay, but it won't keep me solvent past March. Fortunately, I can borrow from family if I have to.

That's good. It's only $240/week in Arizona, and it is so hard to get that eventually I just didn't bother. I was pulling in more than that just with various Army gigs.

I can fully sympathize, given that I was notified in September that my Qualcomm job would go away on November 20.

Fortunately, I'm starting my job tomorrow - albeit with the added good and bad that I've relocated (on our dime) to Albuquerque, where I grew up (I'm sitting in what was my room from 1973 until 1989 when I moved to Chicago after college as I type this up; even though my dad's computers have taken over this room so completely that it is no longer functional as a bedroom).

Best of luck
I know EXACTLY how it feels (my project was cancelled on 30 December, and I've been out of work since...)

I am very sorry, but I'm glad interviews are coming your way. I hope you find something soon! B sends his sympathies and his best wishes.

A piece of advice: Make looking for work your job. Work at it as though it were a full-time job.
