Coffee coffee coffee

True story: In December of last year, I was in Seattle for the Seattle Browncoats Charities' GeekFest II*. On Sunday morning, the organizers brought in a couple of take-out containers of Starbucks coffee for the performers. Seeing this when I got there, I poured myself a cup. The container said "House Blend", so I thought I knew what I was in for, and thus I cheerfully took a swig.

On its way past my tongue and down my gullet, the coffee gave a swift uppercut to my brain pan by way of my taste buds. Seriously, this coffee was strong enough to kick doors down! Without any cognitive instigation at all, I exclaimed "Holy shit!"

Without missing a beat, Sunnie Larsen looked up from what she was doing and said, "Welcome to Seattle."

-------

*Alas, there will probably never be a GeekFest III, as the first two events, while a lot of fun, ended up costing money instead of raising it for the charities.

There's a reason Linnaeus Jorgenson, my character in koressa's Seattle-based campaign "The Road to R'lyeh," habitually orders weak coffee.
