Go see John Carter

Seriously. Go see it. It's good.

No, it's not A Princess of Mars: The Movie. But it's a lot closer to that than I thought it was going to be. The story is strong, the characterization is believable, and I really like the way the movie develops the relationship between John and Tars Tarkas.

No, no one is entirely naked. That movie would never get made in the U.S. today. Maybe France, but even then . . .

But seriously. Go see it. It's good.

I rather enjoyed it (having gone in expecting it to be nothing like the books or the comics)

Yeah, I was expecting it to be a bubblegum movie, "based on a title by Edgar Rice Burroughs", etc. I was very pleasantly surprised.

Wish I had time to go see it. But it would probably have to be this weekend, and with all the "Hunger Games" people out in force, I don't think I could take the crowds.

(I'd like to see "Hunger Games" too, but not in a crowd.)

I'm also disappointed that Disney did such an apathetic job promoting this movie. The trailers don't tell you anything about it, and most of the ads just say "JOHN CARTER." Sheesh. What would it have hurt to put "of Mars" in the title? At least then you know another planet's involved.

Saw it yesterday. It's a cracking good yarn, tho' different from the book I read when we got home.
And, yes, we waited until this week to avoid crowds.
